Actually, the title isn’t exactly correct. I’m not taking a blog holiday across the board, I’m just stepping away from this blog for a few weeks in order to focus on another project I’ve been wanting to rev up for years. This blog actually got in the way of the other project which I should stop referring to as “the other project” and call it by it’s proper name:
In case you weren’t aware, I used to work as a graphic designer and although I’m not taking on many (if any) design projects these days, I still have one more trick up my artistic sleeve. For years I’ve wanted to find a way to help broke, hard-working small business owners with their design but my fees were always a barrier. I tried working for cheap but obviously that worked out well for only one of us, and it wasn’t me.
After many trials and plenty of errors I think I’ve found a kick-ass solution. All of the small biz owners I’ve run it by are excited about the idea including me, who also happens to be a small biz owner. Okay, enough lead up already. Here’s what it is:
The Polisher was created to provide pro design tricks to entrepreneurs so they could complete their own projects without spending thousands in design fees. And, for the cash-flow rich who want to hire a designer, I’ll also provide practical advice on how to work with creative people.
I’ve been collecting notes for quite a while and probably have a few years’ worth of info in my little brain. I mean, I’ve been working as a designer for, oh, I’ve lost track… about 14 years now? That seems like an eternity and makes me appear really old. But not so old that I’ve lost touch with what’s hip. What? Oh, people who need hip replacements use the word hip? Ooops, I guess I should stop hanging out at retirement homes.
Just ignore most of the last paragraph. I think I’m just really tired which is why I can’t push ahead full-steam on more than one big project at a time.
Sadly, the rest of this blog post was complete and then thanks to an internet connection problem a huge chunk of it disappeared. I hate it when that happens. I had saved a draft but heaven only knows what happened to it, and heaven also only knows what I wrote. So… um… if you want to read more of my stuff that’s more business related while you wait just head on over to the Polisher. Thank you and goodnight.
