I’ve just discovered a fool-proof sleeping technique. The steps are simple:
- Have a kid
- Ensure the kid gets sick
- Spend the night consoling kid and cleaning up vomit
- Sleep soundly the next day
If you follow these steps closely you will easily slip into a sleep so deep and oblivious the little things that plague you daily will become invisible. You won’t care if the tax man is banging on your door with a double-barrel shotgun, all that will concern you is blissful, magical sleep. It’s so incredible it actually makes completing tasks the next day or even getting dressed a non-issue. Pajamas all the way!
Updating the world on the progress of my goals (total = 0) has become a pleasurable task. And not at all embarrassing. The challenge this year is to avoid setting goals and falling into the trap of planning everything which I have concluded, after many decades of research, does not work very well and results mostly in stress. Yes, there are many successful people who would argue in favour of the goal and how it has resulted in fame fortune and an abundance of sex with beautiful women, but I am not interested in the first or the latter. I just want fortune. Who doesn’t?
Thus far I have succeeded in fulfilling my goal of no goals for 2013. However, it is only January and there are still eleven+ more months to go. I have a good feeling about this year, and I like the number thirteen.
For a month or so I have been coasting on the knowledge that the first draft of the book is complete. It’s time to get ridiculous and start the editing process so I can get the damn thing out and about. My book wants to see the world! It wants to visit places I’ve never been. If only 100 people actually buy the book I will be ecstatic. The words “Best Selling Author” won’t appear next to my name but the title “Writer” will certainly ring true. My fear is people will think it sucks and I will be shot in the heart with one star ratings on Amazon. Sometimes it’s hard to be a sensitive person, it would be easier if I truly didn’t care.
There is much to do before the launch and some of the tasks are technical and foreign. And not foreign in a sexy way. This requires research! Something I excel at thankfully. Hmmm, that gets the little gears in my head going – another idea to help us get through rough times. Look for it soon!
