As a designer I’m often approached by small business owners who need help with their design and marketing. The trouble is they usually don’t have any money and they also aren’t clear what it is they need and this makes for a very frustrating situation on both sides. In the past I’ve usually turned small business owners away or given them a reasonable quote and then never head back from them. Being an SBO myself I always wanted to help but could never find a way to make it work for both of us. All I really want is to put a roof over my head, be able to eat out at a nice restaurant every now and then and to see gorgeous design everywhere. Essentially I’m an artist, I want everything to be beautiful and sexy, I want every small business to have a great logo, a cool website, and effective marketing.
How the hell could I make that happen?
It took me about 12 years to figure it out but I finally came up with a solution. That is what the Polisher is. It’s a place where entrepreneurs, work-at-home parents, students, SBOs and dabblers can go to find current tips, tricks and advice for creating beautiful design without spending a lot of dough. It’s also a place to find information on how to work with a designer to get the best possible result and avoid the typical pitfalls.
The Polisher is where I get to share my years of business experience to help others design, build and grow their business to be profitable and fulfilling.
I hope you find something informative, entertaining and useful here.
